I have been visiting Colonial Williamsburg for over twenty years and recently, for the first time, I was introduced to the "Secret Garden." There is a gateway that opens onto this long path that heads back a few blocks to a lovely perch.
On the day that we visited, the temperatures were in the low 60's and it was sunny out! Pretty warm even for Virginia in December. That's my handsome son with me, exploring our way to the inner garden.
You have arrived when you see these steps that head up to a circle of trees! You're in the Secret Garden spot.
Have a seat and maybe even carve your initials in the bench up there! And no, we didn't!
You might view a sheep or lamb frolicking within a nearby enclosure.
Look up and enjoy the gorgeous enveloping tree canopy!
Then bid the Secret Garden goodbye, and visit another day!
Our invitation:
This Friday, December 18th, we will be having a Colonial Quills Merry Christmas message, with giveaways, here on the blog!
So please come by to read some of our authors' Christmas messages and visit with us!
Want to know where the gate is for the Secret Garden? Ask me at the party!
That sounds like so much fun to visit someplace like that!
ReplyDeleteI will join you for the party if I remember!
