Tea Time in the Officer's Quarters at Fort Michilimackinac!!! |
Here we are at Fort Michilimackiac in Mackinaw City!
Come step onto a French bateau (boat) to head with me up the straits of Mackinac to Sault Ste. Marie (so named for the jumping St. Mary's River). Let's time travel forward and get off on Portage Street and head west to meet my heroine, Lilly Smith, and her frequent visitor, Theo Reynolds! Theo seems to think Lilly's newly inherited home is a tea shop! But it's not!
Tea Shop Folly (July, 2016, Forget Me Not Press) by Carrie Fancett Pagels is part of A Teacup Courtship Novella collection, and has a 4.9 Star review on Amazon! Available in paperback soon!
Almost destitute, Lilly has run out of hope when she inherits her great-aunt’s home -- but it’s not the Tea Shop that a handsome young gentleman thinks it is. Lilly’s inherited house is crammed full of tea cups. Theo, a Soo Locks engineer, visits frequently in the hopes he will find the perfect antique teacup for his mother and is charmed by the lovely 'Shoppe owner.’ Lilly can’t turn the bachelor away when he persistently peruses her aunt’s collection, which she’s trying to pack up and remove from the house. Is the man only interested in the teacups, or in her? When Theo begins referring people to Lilly, and the genuine Tea Shoppe owner sets the police on Lilly for her lack of a business license, sparks fly!

The Englishman would look back one day and blame it all on Jazz…Flagstaff, Arizona 1930. Full-time Astronomer, and part-time sharp dresser Julian Dyson didn’t discover Pluto but he does discover a nasty case of self-righteousness when a former Ziegfeld Girl’s folly threatens his good name.
Broadway understudy Clara Longworth and her peculiar younger brother are on their way to a new life in Hollywood when they are stranded along Route 66. Clara is asked to fill in as nightclub entertainment, but her good intentions set her up as accomplice in the blackmailing of a government man who makes the real thugs look classy.Until Julian and Clara put their heads together for more than dancing the Black Bottom, their big-as-the-night-sky dreams are on target to fail. I'm checking in and will be checking out just as quickly. Good morning. I'll be at the 'paying job' today and time traveling often to say hello to our lovely readers! Another great day!
ReplyDeleteI simply adore these parties! Congrats on the new releases!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ashley! The officer's wife is pouring green tea right now. Would you like some? I've shared a bunch of my tea cups with her!
DeleteNo, thank you. I don't much care for tea.
DeleteBut if they start serving lemonade, I'll be happy to partake.
I also brought several loaves of blueberry banana bread. My mother in law made them last night, and gave me 3 to share. Let me know if you'd care for a slice. :)
Hi, Lilly Smith here. What an amazing flash of history here in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where in former days the French voyageurs traded furs. In the old days they'd have to "portage" their goods from the lakes around the rapid river which is how my new street got its name! Welcome to the party. I see tea is being served now! I sure have enough tea cups to help that lady out!
ReplyDeletePortaging must have been quite the task! What an arduous life for the men and the women. Nice to meet you here, Lilly, though I'm so enjoying your TEA PARTY story~
ReplyDeleteAll of these books are on my TBR list. Oh, for longer days! LOL! I do wish we were drinking tea right now and eating "sponge cakes, blueberry bread, and maple sugar cookies". I'm looking forward to the party, even though I will have little grandkids playing around me. I'm sure that both will be fun!
ReplyDeleteThey are delicious and meant to be shared with children too! My sisters are here running around. Watch out for my floral-named siblings!
DeleteI hope you get to enjoy them all. I'm almost at the end of Tea Shop Folly!
DeleteSuch an amazing chance to win such fun novels by amazing writers.
ReplyDeleteHi Halita! You are there in Michigan territory now right? So glad to see you here.
DeleteWhat a sweet thing to say. Thank you Halita!
DeleteLife is interrupting my party time tonight so I may be late for the tonight but I will at least check in. I'm apologizing in advance. I also haven't a thing to wear!
ReplyDeleteYou are right here with us in Michilimackinac now Andrea! I would be happy to lend you one of my new frocks. My Aunt Lillian left me the funds for a lovely new wardrobe and I am happy to share!
DeleteLilly does seem to have enjoyed her time at the dress shop!
DeleteThank you for the offer borrowing one of your new frocks Carrie. If only I had made it home in time to change.
DeleteGlad to be here at Michilimackinac virtually, although I was there in reality on Tuesday :D
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have met up in person while I was there Becky! Hope you had a great time! Come sit down and have a cookie with me!
DeleteWe camped at Wilderness State Park and spent Tuesday in Mackinac City.
DeleteAll of these books sound wonderful! Hope I get to read them soon. Looking forward to the Tea Party tonight,Wish I could have some now before work! Well,'till then! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see you Lynne! My frequent visitor Theo Reynolds thinks I am working in my tea shop. Blessings!
DeletePerhaps we'll put that tea on ice. Have you ever heard of such a thing, Lilly?
DeleteGood Morning Ladies! Congratulations Carrie, Tamera and Debra on your releases! You are looking lovely on this fine day. I'm so excited about this evening's tea party!
ReplyDeleteHave a FANTASTIC Friday!
Ms. Kane I understand that you too are about to be brought to life like me. Caroline Kane is one of Carrie's upcoming heroines!
DeleteThanks Caryl! Great to see you here!
DeleteOh.My. I am humbled and honored to become a heroine!
DeleteI will definitely be at the party. I love these. I look forward to learning more about the releases. FYI Carrie I am reading Saving the Marquise's Granddaughter right now, page 30. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLilly here. I understand Suzanne was here last month! Thanks for enjoying her stories!!!
DeleteI love fb parties, reading blogs, and romance.
ReplyDeleteIf only I could figure out if Theo wants romance -- or teacups!
DeleteGood morning, ladies!! Congrats on the releases of each of your wonderful books - I must read each one!! Such a beautiful setting in which to celebrate - I'm thrilled to be able to make a return trip!! I'd love some ginger tea and wonderful blueberry bread, please!!
ReplyDeleteHello Miss Bonnie! Let me grab the officer's lovely wife. I could use a spot of black tea with another cookie. Sit down and tell me about your upcoming book event!
DeleteThis looks like another great group of stories to read and prizes being given away this month. I would love to win any of them. Congratulations to each of you on your releases.
ReplyDeleteLilly here. I would love to read about those stories in the future from my time. While the 1890s are exciting for me now I do wonder what is ahead.
DeleteGood tidings to all our celebrants and guests! What a pleasure to attend another tea party. This is such a fascinating locale to hold the event. I am delighted for our authors of the new publications!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Lake Michigan right outside the fort! Come try the sponge cake. I am very glad Carrie wrote me (Lilly) into existence!
DeleteTea celebration day! These new books all sound great. I hope to read them all.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tea the offier's wife is serving...blueberry bread...mmmm!
I chose my gown for today before reading about our mode of transportation, so I've overdressed for the occasion, I do believe. But all is such fun!
Thanks for the party, ladies!
Thanks Sherida! Blueberry anything would be my favorite! I am counting on a good breeze off the lake to keep us cool!
DeleteHi Sherida! Welcome! I'm just happy to no longer be dressed in raggedy clothes and living in the mountains of Kentucky! It is so beautiful up here near the straits of Mackinac.
DeleteThank you for the invitation! I always love to celebrate fabulous new books by loved authors. :-)
ReplyDeleteLilly Smith here. I'm so glad to be "on the page" and celebrating being in literary existence! Have some tea!
DeleteSounds like fun, thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Michele! I hope you'll get to read my story!
DeleteCongrats! It's a wonderful story :)
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for some tea and cookies, heading over to the FB party!
Those cookies are yummy as is the tea. Thanks for coming by!
Delete(Chappy Debbie enters, waving to all)
ReplyDeleteHello ladies, I know that I am early. I never know if these parties are posted as Eastern or Pacific time. Congratulations to the authors on their wonderful releases. This should be a great party....as always. My two daughters should be popping in at some point during the party...Ms. Debra Smith and Ms. Jackie Ramsdell. So, will there be some form of entertainment today....music, dancing, recitals? Or are we simply enjoying each others company? I do believe I will get some refreshments and settle for a spell. I DO love to people watch.
Welcome Chappy Debbie! Lilly Smith here and we've heard of these time zones being established in the 1880s when I was a child, but I've never had the opportunity to travel west. Maybe once I clear most of these teacups out of the house I can travel. It may be a while though, and I sure do enjoy having that Theo come by regularly. The officer's wife here at Michilimackinac is pouring tea again and offering sandwiches. There is a dance later and some lovely French music. Looking forward to meeting your daughters!
DeleteNice to meet you, Lilly. I've heard of your lovely tea cups and I've seen that handsome Theo around. He seems to have taken a liking to you...er I mean your teacups. *giggles in her hankie*
DeleteGood afternoon ladies. It is nice to finally make your acquaintance. Music sounds lovely. Considering the time period that we live in (tonight) in what form will this music be? Live musicians or phonograph?
DeleteLilly, I have to ask, what is your favorite thing about running the tea shop?
Loved Tea Shop Folly. Other two authors I haven't read any of their books but look forward to reading their books.
ReplyDeletehi Karen! I am glad you enjoyed my (Lilly) and Theo's story!!! I am planning on reading both of these other stories too!
DeleteThank you Marguerite, Laurie and Bonnie. I've got to go freshen up for our facebook party. That's what ladies do, right? I appreciate you stopping in and leaving a comment!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the party! These are so much fun!
ReplyDeleteWhile we have giveaways here on the blog, I'm also doing a giveaway for those who comment during my hour at the FACEBOOK PARTY 5-6pm East coast time. Come on over and say hi. Things move along quickly and it's a great way to slip into the weekend! Now, are you drinking regular tea still or have you had to change to chamomile so as not to disturb your sleep later?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful group of authirs and amazing books. Looking forward to the party.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you here Deana! The weather is lovely up by the straits!
DeleteAnother lovely day for a party. These officers quarters are quite comfortable. Thanks very much for the tea. I have thoroughly enjoyed Tea Shop Folly and The Steeplechase. The other books sound very interesting and I certainly would love to read them.
ReplyDeleteYes they are decorated nicely! So glad you like my and Theo's story!
DeleteHello everyone. I am Debra Dawn. These parties are always a lot of fun. Now to mingle, eat and drink.
ReplyDeleteTry the venison stew Debra!
DeleteI might try it. I am more thirsty than hungry. :)
DeleteHello daughter, you look lovely. I think I will pass on the venison...not one of my favorite meat.
DeleteMy, doesn't everyone look lovely! Of course, these parties always have elegantly dressed ladies and gents.
ReplyDeleteThe Odawa warriors are a little scary looking.
DeleteI try to stay clear of the scary looking people....I will keep some of the nice gents between me and those warriors.
DeleteHi everyone!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl! Good to see you and all of these familiar faces! Isn't it a lovely day for a party?
DeleteI love herbal peach tea and herbal peppermint tea. So relaxing as I read.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to such wonderful authors on your releases.
ReplyDeleteThese books all look great I have read Tea Shop Folly which was awesome. I read Steeple Chase this week and it is also great. Enjoying the party on facebook, but the vertigo I struggle so often is getting to the extreme mode so may have to leave the party for awhile to see if I can calm it down a little by taking a nap. Please enter me in all the giveaways.
ReplyDeleteI am back my little nap helped. I love these parties.
DeleteAfternoon ladies! Such a beautiful day for a tea party. Was not sure I was going to make if, traveling from Maryland is a long journey, even more so when one is not feeling well. Everyone looks so lovely in their gowns and the blueberry bread smells heavenly. I think I will have a cup of black tea and some of the bread.
ReplyDelete~~~~~~~~~~
Congratulations Carrie, Tamera and Debra on your releases! I enjoyed meeting Lilly and her fella in the Tea Shop Folly....The Resurrection of Hope sounds very interesting. as does Starlight Serenade.
Blessings,Tina
Hello Mrs. Tina. So happy that you are feeling well enough to attend the party. You are looking very lovely.
DeleteThanks Tina.
DeleteThanks so much for playing along with me on the FB portion tonight!

DeleteBlessings, Tina
You are welcome Tamera and Debra.
DeleteBlessings, Tina
Keeping you in my prayers.
DeleteThank you sweet Debbie
DeleteBlessings,Tina
I've brought 3 loaves of homemade blueberry banana bread to share, courtesy of my mother in law. Feel free to take a slice.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds SO yummy. Might I have a slice?
DeleteAbsolutely! She was worried it would be too dense since she liked her breads fluffy, but I prefer a denser, moister bread. *hands slice*
DeleteI hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Thanks so much! It is very good.
DeleteLovely tea party. I'm sipping my Earl Grey. Who needs sleep when we can be reading?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read Tea Shop Folly, Resurrection of Hope, and Starlight Serenade. Thank you and congratulations on the new releases, ladies!
Thanks so much, Sherido. I hope you enjoy the Earl Gray.

DeleteGlad you it wasn't serious Tamera and you were able to make it.
DeleteBlessings,Tina

Hello dear Linda! Nice to see you, too! Where did you get that fan? I could sure use one right now. (looking around) I think that these parties should have some fans set out for guests to use, especially in the hot seasons. Mayhaps our hostess has a spare somewhere. Excuse me, dear. (Chappy begins to walk around, searching for her hostess....looking....looking....there she is!)
DeleteThe Officer's wife had her servants make that delicious stew, but thank you! Lilly here and I do make some wonderful biscuits, if I do say so myself! Waving back and come sit and I'll tell you my suspicions about Theo's real reason for visiting so frequently at my new house!
DeleteThey say the way to a mans heart is through his stomach, have you been feeding Theo ?
DeleteHaving lots of fun at the party and admiring all the special gifts for some blessed people tonight.
ReplyDeleteAnd you won one of the special gifts! Congrats!!!

Blessings, Meg
Now I need to head over to Amazon and bookmark some books! ;)
Welcome Megs! It can get quite challenging going back and forth to these parties. I don't think you ever get used to it. You look lovely today.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThank you for the warm welcome ChappyDebbie! I agree that the pace of these book parties can be quite hectic. My best advice has simply become: type fast! :)
DeleteI noticed on your blogger page that you consider Jane Eyre a favorite movie. I must ask, which version is your favorite? =)
Megs, thanks for coming to both parties! It was suggested by Rita Gerlach, an esteemed member of CQ, a few years ago to do both a FB and the blog party. So we did take her advice eventually. It does make things quite busy!
DeleteYes it does, but it's a fun busy! :) How did you enjoy it? Did the stress settle a bit after things got into full swing?
DeleteHave a great weekend!
Loving the party. Thank you for taking the time to set it up for your readers. I look forward to reading your books! Resurrection of Hope is now on my TBR pile. I was actually on Rt 66 last year when we took a trip out West. Tea Shop Folly sounds like a fun read. Can't wait, ladies!
ReplyDeleteI pray you'll enjoy the stories, Anne! Thanks for coming by the party. Would you like some tea? I'm asking the Officer's wife for a cup of ginger tea and a sweet cookie.
DeleteCongratulations Carrie, Debra, and Tamera on your releases! I've read and enjoyed Tamera's book and looking forward to reading Debra's and Carrie's.
ReplyDeleteHello Janet, welcome. You look lovely today.

ReplyDeleteLilly here! Thanks so much, Nancy! I'm so glad you enjoyed my and Theo's stories! Thanks for coming by. Tamera and Debra are very talented!!!
DeleteHi Carrie!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to be where you are writing about. I am in Portage right now, eating a lovely dinner with my husband. We will check out Mackinac probably come October since we will be closing on the house at the end of month. Can't wait it sounds so cool. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to do.
Oh Justina, that is really special! So many places around the Great Lakes named Portage because of all the fur trade and transferring goods across land. I hope you'll get to enjoy Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, and Fort Michilimackinac in person soon!
DeleteCongratulations, Ladies, on your new books!!! I can't wait to read each one. Historical fiction is my favorite genre and I know from experience you ladies write some of THE BEST!!!! Blessings to each one of you in your continued writing journey! {{hugs}}
ReplyDeleteAnn, I shared on the FB party, about how I got inspired for the story when we visited that historic B&B in Charles City on the Pilgrimage last fall!!! Thanks!
DeleteI just love these parties! One year ago today, Facebook tells me I was at the party for "Lilacs for Juliana", and I'm no less excited for these new offerings! Love the history & romance, and can't wait to read some more!
ReplyDeleteWas that really one year ago that Juliana got to be here at the party!? And now Lilly is having her time in the spotlight! Thanks for sharing that, Teri!!!
DeleteYes! I was amazed too! #StillMyFavorite
DeleteOh that is sweet, Teri! I'm so glad you enjoyed Juliana's story. I enjoyed having her sister and mother so involved in the story and I loved Sister Mary Lou, who I just met in person!!!
DeleteI must bid you all farewell. I've enjoyed the party....as always. Congrats to the authors and thanks so much for the lovely time. Hugs to all.
ReplyDelete(Chappy Debbie leaves with a smile on her face and love in her heart)
Chappy has left the building.
Goodnight, Chappy Debbie! Sweet dreams tonight! I understand your Butler is as charming as my Engineer, Theo!
DeleteThank you so much! I'm thrilled to have won Tamera's book! Thank for all fun at BOTH parties. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Be sure to invite us to your parties, too, Sherida! Blessings!
DeleteCan you believe I haven't had internet for days and I've been trying to keep up with you all in bits and pieces? So... I have yet to go back and see what I missed on Friday night, and catch up with all the great comments and what I missed during Tamela's and Carrie's hour. Congrats to all the winner! I've contacted Debora, Teresa and Deanna and hope to see you all again soon. I post on the odd Fridays her at the CQ and Carrie graciously allows me to be part of the parties when I have a new release! It was lovely to meet new faces and see more of those of you that I've 'virtually' met before.
ReplyDelete
