Hello All!
This week I am giving away one free Kindle copy. All you have to do is post a comment why you would like to read this book and I'll be in touch with the winner.
Matthew Hale was a rebel to King James, hunted down, captured, and enslaved in
Colonial Maryland. Haunted by war and wrestling with a troubled past,
Matthew Hale pledges to protect the daughter of his former owner and
bring her from England to her father's plantation along the Chesapeake,
an undertaking that challenges the depth of his courage, and the
strength of his faith.
Lara Carey will only wed for love, having kept the story of her parents' unwavering devotion for each other in her heart. When she learns her guardian has promised her in marriage to a rich English lord in order to save the ancestral home, her hopes unravel, until she meets the heroic stranger that rescued her from the hands of a highwayman.

Comments from Readers.
'It's 2am and I'm halfway done. My goodness. What a page turner and great character depth.'
'It seems some authors forget the little details
that make history come alive, but not Rita!! No, she’s a historical expert and
brings in the yummy stuff. And thankfully, the characters aren’t 2012 shoved
back to 1600’s, thank God!! Instead they are 1600’s people set in 1600’s, not
2012.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If The Rebel's Pledge were made into a movie, here are the actors that I would chose.
The infamous Lord Barrington Grey ~ Rufus Sewell
Lara's exiled father, Edmund Carey ~ Michael Gamdom
Friend and advocate, Sir John Fitzhugh ~ James Norrington

ReplyDeleteThanks and blessings,
Karen
Thank you, Karen. I was so happy to revise this book and get it back out to readers. The paperback should be out in the next week or two. I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I was pleased to see it has received three reviews already and each five stars.
DeleteI really enjoyed the original book and look forward to reading the revised edition!
ReplyDelete...And I hope you know that you inspired me to put the books in my backlist out there again, Carrie. I'm working on Thorns In Eden and The Everlasting Mountains and hope to have the revisions done by September.

DeleteThanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI just recently came across your books, my first being Before the Scarlet Dawn. I was so intrigued with it that I preordered the second book in the series.
Thanks once again
J. Grace, thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you liked Before the Scarlet Dawn that you preordered Beside Two Rivers. It will be out this fall. I've seen the cover to the third book, Beyond the Valley, and will put it up soon. Book 3 is Sarah's story.
DeleteDear J.Grace,
DeletePlease get in touch with me at rpkg@comcast.net
I tried to find your email address and could not.
Blessings,
Rita
Like the others, I love reading this time period. I'd love to read your book, especially since I'd be reading and "seeing" Richard Armitage as Matthew!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about Richard Armitage. When I found that photo I saw 'Matthew Hale' written all over it! One thing I'm hearing from readers is they are enjoying the 'heroic hero'. So many Christian romances focus mainly on the heroine. I enjoy that too, but bringing out a strong male lead was exciting.
DeleteI simply love historical romance, and from the summary it seems like there will be a lot of character development as the young man works through his past and war and as Lara searches for love. It sounds like an amazing book!
ReplyDeleteAnd your choice of actors intrigued me even more to read the book. Great choices!
Thanks, Kris, for your comments. I loved writing this book.
DeleteHi Rita, thank you for you Post, I love all your Books and I know I will love this one too. Please add me to your Giveaway.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to all.

Thank you, Ingrid. I'm glad you have enjoyed my books.
DeleteI can't wait to read The Rebel's Pledge. Sounds like a great historical romance with girl being saved from marriage devoid of love by heroic stranger that rescued her from the hands of a highwayman.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to enter giveaway.
